Creating With Angelina Heat-Bonded Fiber

Materials needed:

    • Three thicknesses of tissue paper folded in half, or
    • Applique Press Sheet
    • Angelina heat bonded fibers
    • Iron set to the cool setting of silk/wool
  1. Grab a small clump of Angelina Heat Bonded fibers between your fingers and lay it inside the folded tissue paper or inside the applique sheet. (You can use a thick clump of fiber or a thin clump of fiber – each will provide a different affect. Experiment whether you want the result to be thin and lacey or thick.)
  2. Place a COOL IRON set to the silk/wool setting on top of the tissue paper or the applique sheet for just FIVE SECONDS.
  3. Check the fiber and see if it is fibery or if it has formed into fabric.
  4. You may need to place the iron on for five more seconds to set the fiber so that it bonds and turns into fabric.
  5. OPTION: You can add a fusible powder or fusible webbing to the Angelina fiber BEFORE ironing to create a piece that you can bond with your iron onto another fabric or surface.
  6. RULE TO REMEMBER: The amount of heat and the length the heat is applied will affect the color of the Angelina. If you apply too much heat, the result will be black with all the metallic color gone.
  7. Once bonded, Angelina can be cut with scissors. The edges will not fray.
  8. One lady bonded yellow Angelina and cut a sun with many rays from it. She then laid her sun shape on her crazy quilting and beaded the inner circle of the sun inside the rays to apply it to her crazy quilt.
  9. Bonded Angelina is 100 percent polyester and washable. You can sew over the bonded Angelina or bead over it, fuse it, cut it, hand buttonhole stitch its edges.
  10. This is a wonderfully creative fiber medium that opens up a whole new world of color. Have great fun with it! If you have any more questions, call 1-800-484-7944 code to the tell the MCI operator 7673 or FAX us at 330-637-3106 or visit our website at www.quiltersfancy.com
