Class Registration - To be in class, prepay a deposit two weeks in advance if possible. If you must cancel, we can transfer you to another class or refund your money. No refunds 48 hours before class. We prepare your kit, your seat & lunch just for you, so please take class registration seriously. In all-day classes, bring your own lunch, order out or have our lunch buffet for $2.

Receive 10% off after class purchases.

Bring Basic Sewing Supplies to all classes: scissor for cutting paper & fabric, 6-inch ruler or other measure, pins with heads, chalk marker, strong poly thread — gray is good on many colors.

 

Hand Quilting I
- A Different Method of Hand Quilting from The Thimble Lady of Australia & taught by Cindy O
11-3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 1; Saturday, Aug. 23; Wednesday, Sept. 17; or Monday, Oct. 13

The Thimble Lady's classes in Houston filled up first out of 400 classes. Experience this hand quilting using a different needle, thimble, batting & way to hoop. Get tiny stitches front & back. This method is designed for NO CARPAL TUNNEL & BACK PAIN. Bring your ThimbleLady Thimble or borrow one of ours. Kit & class $15. Get the thimble only if you love it.

Recycle, Dye, Appliqué & Embellish Wool

Luxurious variegated hand-dyed wool can be yours without a large investment of time or money or dangerous dyeing ways. Learn how great finds at the Good Will store turn into gorgeous hand-dyed wool. Learn the dye recipe, how to appliqué & embellish with beads & buttons not just ho-hum but gorgeously. Come & see some beautiful woolwork. Rena will bring her wool appliquéd and embellished quilt blocks to inspire you in this easy-to-do wool art. Refreshments served. Admission $5

Easy Hand Felted Flowers with Clover Molds
Mon. Noon-3 Aug. 4

Make a pansy & rose and get comfortable with hand felting. This class includes Clover's Pen Style Felting Tool, mold, felting brush and roving. Complete kit & class $35. If you have supplies, pay for only what you need. If you have everything in our kit, your class is just $2.

Velvet Pansy &Velvet Rose
Noon-3 pm Wed. Aug. 6

Feel the silk velvet while making a pansy & rose on our new hand-dyed fabric strips. These flowers go great on quilt blocks, scarves or garments. $10

Silk Rummaging & Crazy Piecing
10 am-2 pm Sat. Aug. 9

This is the crazy class everyone is talking about! Learn the many ways to piece crazy quilting. Pick your own silk kit for a 10-inch block or small purse from 100s of pieces of pure silk that will be in mountainous piles about the room. Sewing machine cleaned and in good working order required. Class & kit $15.

Beginning Punch Needle
Noon - 4 pm Wed. Aug. 13

There is more to punch needle than just punching. Bring your punch needles or get a set here and learn exactly how to hold the needle, manage the thread and have an enjoyable punch experience while making a beautiful new project. Experienced punchers welcome.

Turn Good Will finds into million $$$ outfits!

Curious about felting? Join us for this lecture demo with Kathy Chamberlain, of American Sewing Guild, who will show us her favorite tricks for turning Good Will finds into million dollar outfits with felting. See the felting machine in action and all the marvelous ways to take fiber of all sorts and felt it onto garments and purses. A fantastic parade of felted garments will be on display. Admission $5

Burnished Rose! From Hanah Silk

Come in and let's burn some ribbon and unlock the beautiful colors inside the silk and then turn it into an incredible Hanah Silk Rose. Kit-class $15

Hand Quilting II - Trapunto, Quilt Marking
11 am-3 pm Wed. Aug. 20 or Wed. Oct. 15

Trapunto is a beautiful, easy relaxing technique that makes hand quilting special. If you enjoyed Hand Quilting I and want to practice with other Thimble Lady stitchers, this class is for you. Hand Quilting I required. Bring small sharp scissors. Class & kit $15.

Dyeing Lace Vintage
11 am-3 pm Mon. Aug. 25

Create a shabby chic denim shirt or other garment by embellishing the shirt with hand-dyed lace. Easily and pleasantly dye lace in class. Class, paint fee & lunch $10. Bring your own shirt. Add your own kit made up of whatever lace motifs you choose. Lace motifs range in price from 50 cents to $1.75 & some are more. Includes free ¼ yd of silk & lunch.

10-3 pm Wed. Aug. 27

Bring your own beads. Let's bead this dynamic fabric. Make patches in a crazy quilt or use in a purse or wearable. We will talk about beading string, stabilizers, technique, types of beads and the oodles of possibilities beading today provides. Bring your beading projects for show-n-tell! Your kit is your choice of whatever Mark fabric you want, stabilizer & needles at our 10 percent class discount. Bring one salad item to throw into our salad surprise for lunch.

Beginning Silk Ribbon Embroidery
10 am-3 pm Sat. Aug. 30

Embroider with silk on silk while learning how to embroider with silk ribbon. Make roses, leaves, forget-me-knots, lily of the valley, rosebuds in a bouquet tied with an embroidered ribbon using easy stitches like the spider web rose, Japanese ribbon stitch, straight stitch, stem stitch, whipped chain & knots. Finished bouquet is 3 inches square. Frame or use in a crazy quilt. $25 includes class, kit & lunch

Yearning for a little Crazy Quilt Antiquity.
11 am-3 pm Wed. Sept. 3

Make an exact replica of an embroidered moon and star from a 1800s crazy quilt. Bring crazy patchwork with a spot to applique a 4-inch motif. No patchwork? Purchase a small bit of silk here to work on. $17 class, kit & lunch included.

Roses, Roses, Roses Victorian Pincushion
10 am-3 pm Sat. Sept. 6

Encore performance of Cindy's NQA class. You will make 4 different roses - spin roses on the Vintage Rose Spindle, twirl, fold and gather ribbons into roses using all sorts of different ribbons. Work in nice Victorian colors. Kit, class & lunch $25

Fall Crazy Quilt Block Club

Bring thoughts of autumn and a salad ingredient (other than lettuce) to share for salad surprise!

SEWING TIP:

Are your thimbles getting damaged? Did you know that the eye end of the needle can often have a very sharp point? Take a file and gently file down the eye end of the needle so your needle will not cut through your thimble!
