Edyta Sitar’s beautiful batik fall leaves and pumpkin wallhanging top can be yours in just one day or less. In this class, master fast and fusible machine applique. Learn stitch lengths and stitch widths, thread weights and needles sizes for your sewing machine. Also learn a decorative machine blanket stitch that looks as if it was done by hand. The raw edge of the fabric will be sealed snugly with camouflaged stitches to the background fabric. What makes Edyta’s Pumpkin pattern so beautiful is her Moda Pumpkin Pie fabric. Fabric kits for this class are available while the fabric lasts. Register quickly for this very pretty, decorative autumn wallhanging. The class fee of $25 includes  the Kit (all the fabric for the top) & the Pattern.

Skill level: Beginner
Materials Needed: 1 spool of smoke Wonder Invisible Thread, magnification & extra light, sharp scissors for cutting through fused paper and fabric, mechanical pencil for drawing on paper, optional template plastic, a bobbin with dark thread and an empty bobbin. Bring your sewing machine cleaned under the plate and loaded with a new 70 Microtex machine needle ready to sew. Always bring BASIC SEWING SUPPLIES, small ruler or tape measure, chalk pencil (mechanical preferred), pincushion with needles, pins and thread, sharp fabric scissors and paper scissors.

Small Quilts Group

Buttons and Lincoln's Logs are the first of many small quilts (both of these are 19 inches wide) planned for the new Small Quilts Group beginnig Aug. 28 at Quilter's Fancy. Lead by Marcy, the group will feature a new small quilt from the book "Civil War Legacies" by Carol Hopkins.

Classes will meet from from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Cost of "Civil War Legacies" is $25, and cost of the starting fabric kit (one dozen 1/4-yard cuts of Civil War reproduction fabric, 3 yards in all) is $35. A $10 class fee will be due each month.

The starting fabric kit wil consist of lights, darks and mediums of various colors suitable for use in several of the quilts. With all of the beautiful Civil War fabrics available, choosing additional fabrics will be fun.

Free Motion Quilting on Your Own Home Sewing Machine with Teacher Jamie Bennett

This hands on class will teach basic skills for free motion quilting on your home sewing machine. We will draw designs on muslin fabric and practice the basic techniques of traight line and free motion quilting. I will help you build confidence in your machine quilting with cross hatch, fillers, stippling, pebbles, echoing and swirls. You will leave class with samples of techniques, you can use in your quilts at home.

Forest Floor Block of the Month

Forest Floor is made with Tonga Batiks from Timeless Treasures. The finished quilt is 106" square.

Blocks are $25/month. Pay for the first and last blocks to start this 12-month program. The first block is available July 1.

There will be no scheduled classes, but help is available on request for a minimal fee.

Embroidered Baskets

Award-winner teacher Karen Phillips-Shwallon will be teaching twelve months of embroidered baskets filled with different flowers to stitch. If you love flower baskets, you are sure to enjoy embroidering these blocks, which will frame beautifully for gifts or combine into a breathtaking quilt. New students can start at any time.

Farmer's Wife Hand Piecing Club

Our FREE Farmer's Wife Hand Piecing Club studies hand-piecing quilt blocks. The club started by doing the Farmer's Wife quilt.

In the club meetings, we talk about hand embroidery, hand piecing, English Paper Piecing, the Lucy Boston quilt, and many other topics.

There is no charge for the club; pay only for fabric and supplies you buy for your quilt and receive a 10% discount on most items.

Newcomers are always welcome.

The club meets monthly on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. Upcoming dates for 2017 are Sept. 13; Oct. 11; Nov. 16; Dec. 15 Christmas Party.
