Free Lace
Free Lace —"a combination of method and texture" — was developed by Kazuko Araki of Japan.

It is easy and fun — and sets your creativity free. Make your own designs or follow guidelines and patterns from one of several Free Lace books (below).

To create a scarf, stole, jacket or other Free Lace project, simply lay ribbons and fibers in your own desired pattern on the sticky surface.

When finished, spread the thin cover film over sticky surface covered with ribbons, and it will stick in place.

Next, go to the sewing machine and, using a beautiful thread, sew in a 1-inch grid pattern covering the entire piece.

Last step! Go to the sink and dip the entire piece in cold water and watch the stabilizer magically disappear leaving a web of fiber!

To finish, square up the damp scarf and carefully press with a cool iron.

Voila.

You have a finished scarf or funky fabric you can make into a garment.

Remember, you can always send us an email or call us toll-free at 1-866-953-0722 if you have any questions.
